ELIGIBILITY
• The competition is open to heavy music bands (metal, hardcore, extreme genres).
• Bands must perform original music.
• Bands must be able to perform live at Necrosonic Festival on Saturday 22 August 2026 at Mansfield Tavern, Brisbane.
• Entrants must provide at least one live performance video.

APPLICATION PROCESS
• Bands must submit their entry through the official competition form.
• Only one entry per band is permitted.
• Incomplete submissions may not be considered.

SELECTION PROCESS
The competition will take place in two stages:

Stage 1 • Shortlisting
The Necrosonic team will review all submissions and select a shortlist of finalists.

Stage 2 • Final Selection
The final winner will be chosen by the Necrosonic team.

The competition may include a combination of public engagement and panel judging.

Public interaction may be used to shortlist finalists; however, the final winner will be determined by the Necrosonic Festival team.

JUDGING PROCESS
Submissions will be reviewed by the Necrosonic Festival team and may also be evaluated by a panel of selected industry representatives.

Judges may include festival organisers, musicians, media representatives, promoters or other members of the heavy music community.

Entries will be assessed based on a combination of factors including musical quality, originality, live performance presence and suitability for the Necrosonic Festival lineup.

The decision of the Necrosonic Festival team and judging panel is final.

COMPETITION DATES
HEAT One • 30 May 2026 • PFR Lounge
HEAT Two • 6 June 2026 • PFR Lounge
FINALS • 8 August 2026 • PFR Lounge

PRIZE
The winning band will receive:
• An opening performance slot at Necrosonic Festival 2026
• Official lineup placement
• Promotion through Necrosonic social media channels
• Own band page on the Necrosonic website
• Artist access at the festival

Prize details are subject to event scheduling and production requirements.

MARKETING REQUIREMENTS
Bands must follow the official Necrosonic Festival social media accounts at the time of submission and throughout the competition period.

Entries may be deemed invalid if the band or primary band account is not following the official Necrosonic Festival pages at the time of review.

Bands will also be required to actively share competition-related content if shortlisted.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS
• Necrosonic Festival reserves the right to modify the competition or prize if required.
• The decision of the Necrosonic team is final.
• Submission of an entry grants Necrosonic permission to share band material for promotional purposes related to the competition.

ORGANISER DISCRETION
Necrosonic Festival reserves the right to select the winner based on overall suitability for the event and lineup.

ENTRY DEADLINE
Applications close April 10th.
