Ghostsmoker are a blackened sludge band from Melbourne, formed in late 2021. In June 2022, they unleashed their debut EP, Grief, via Goatsound Records. The release quickly earned praise for its ominous, dread-inducing take on the doom and sludge genres, landing the 23rd spot on the Doom Charts, and gaining airplay both in Australia and internationally.
Following Grief, Ghostsmoker established themselves as a formidable force on the Australian live circuit, known for their colossal, punishing performances. Their thunderous riffs and monolithic sound have drawn comparisons to Conan, Thou, and Bongripper, with each riff delivering a sonic intensity that can only be forged through years of amplifier worship.
In June 2024, the band signed with Art As Catharsis to release their highly anticipated debut full-length, Inertia Cult, set for release on March 21, 2025. The first single, Incarnate, was released in October 2024 and scored the number 2 spot on the AIR Independent Label Singles chart, and the AIR 100% Independent Singles chart.

Along with the release of Inertia Cult, the band will embark on an album launch tour in Melbourne, Sydney, Frankston and Adelaide. Another major highlight will be supporting Pallbearer and Conan on the Melbourne leg of their Australian tour, sharing the stage with two of the most revered bands in the genre. Ghostsmoker will also be bringing their intense live sound to Brisbane's Necrosonic Festival, alongside some of the country's most brutal acts.
With Inertia Cult set to make waves and their live presence stronger than ever, 2025 is set to be a breakthrough year for Ghostsmoker.
